In 1863, Japan was in the middle of a standoff. Under Tokugawa Shogunate rule, the “Bread Ship,” the first Western ship to come to the country, cut off Japan from the rest of the world, driving it into disorder. The grim times of war, sickness, and taken-over politics cannot put down the hero, who has yet no name, as this person takes actions associated with the future of Japan.

Be a ronin out of the lowest rank who owes his journey to the choices he made. The involving options allow you to communicate with familiar characters and groups or individuals, each with his best idea, from Ryoma Sakamoto, the great leader of the anti-shogunate movement, to Isami Kondo and his shogunate-aligned Shinsengumi. Make decisions that are most likely relevant to the events of the dramatic Bakumatsu period, including who will decide the fate of such characters as Naosuke Ii. The player creates and leaves a memorable mark in this time of renewal and crisis through various endings that dynamically change.
